Led by Richmark Holdings CEO, Gavin Varejes, the grouping includes Mark and Brett Levy and Gary Harlow from Blue Label Investments, and David Marais. The five, who share a number of commercial interests, have worked together for many years and are good friends.

Wildekrans Wine Estate produces a range of red and white wines. Wildekrans wines have been winning awards and frequently appear on top wine lists, like those of the Blue Train and Le Franschhoek Hotel and Spa which won Gold in the Diners Club Wine list Award 2006.

The group is committed to investing in several improvement projects, each designed to upgrade the Estate and take Wildekrans Wines to the next level. Dave Marais (project co-ordinater) of the group says 'The basics are in place to make the Wildekrans Wine Estate even more special, and I know I speak for all my partners when I say that we're really looking forward to building on the Estate's rich heritage and reputation for good wine-making. We want to create a premium brand in Wildekrans wines, while contributing to the Walker Bay community and the South African wine industry.'

The Varejes-led group will keep existing wine-maker, William Wilkinson. Renowned viticulturist, Kobus Jordaan, has also been appointed to help drive the Wildekrans renewal.

With the energy, passion and vision of the new owners, supported by a top-end team of winemaking experts, Wildekrans seems destined for greatness. This is certainly a story worth watching!
